Don Kennedy

Hi, my name is Don Kennedy and I’m the Director of Golf at Firewheel. We opened the Old Course at Firewheel in 1983, after receiving my PGA membership in 1987 I went to work at the Shores CC, and then moved to the Dallas Athletic CC, at both facilities I worked as an assistant golf professional. I was at DAC for two and a half years and then went to work as a sales rep for Nike Golf. While traveling Oklahoma and having a new family I realized my love was that of a club professional. I returned to Firewheel in 1992 as the Head Golf Professional.

As an assistant golf professional and head golf professional I played and competed in NTPGA events. I learned to play golf at an early age and grew up playing in junior golf events. I realize as a Golf professional one of our most important jobs is to grow the game of golf by teaching the beginner, intermediate, and advanced player. By helping golfers learn more about the game and improving their game, they become customers for life.

My teaching philosophy is to keep things simple and have fun teaching the student. I assure you the more my students have fun learning, the more they learn and better they improve. I have been blessed with having taught some great junior golfers that have gone on and played college golf. My son played division 1 and it was fun working with him and guiding him through the junior golf years. After graduating college, he decided to pursue a career as a golf professional.
